Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 5 (ANI): Union Minister and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy hit out at the Congress government in Karnataka on Monday and questioned their poll promises regarding "transparency and clean administration."
Kumaraswamy said that even after a year of coming to power, the state government "refused to change their attitude."
"When this government came to power they had the message to the voters that we would give a very clean administration, transparent administration. But what is going on? What they promised to the people of Karnataka about the transparency, we have not seen anywhere in the last year," Kumaraswamy said while speaking to ANI.
He accused the state government of "pressurizing officers and taking money for transfers."
"When the new government came to power, we had to give some time to them to saturate it. But for more than a year we have already given sufficient time to this government. But they have not changed their attitude in this circumstance," he added.
Kumaraswamy said that the 'Mysuru Chalo' padayatra organised jointly by BJP and JD-S in the state is to "educate the people."
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) opposition alliance in Karnataka kicked off its 10-day 'Mysore Chalo' padayatra on August 3 from Kengeri in Bengaluru to Mysore over alleged MUDA and Valmiki Corporation scams.
"We decided to bring awareness to the Karnataka people. For that actually, BJP and JDS combinedly started this Padyatra - 'Mysuru Chalo' to educate the people. We are actually before the people of Karnataka. They (the state govt) can't continue in this office even not for a single minute, according to me," Kumaraswamy said.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar slammed BJP's padayatra over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam and said that they are trying to make an issue out of a non-issue. (ANI)
