“Unfortunate that…” Chhattisgarh CM attacks Centre for not inviting Mallikarjun Kharge to G20

He further said that the decision of the Central government not to decide Kharge in the summit is an ‘attack’ on the democracy of the country.

Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], September 8 (ANI): Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday said that it is very “unfortunate” Leader of Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge has not been invited to the G20 Summit in New Delhi.
“This is a very unfortunate thing that he is being called in the summit. The dissent of the Opposition should be respected. Leaders of the opposition have a very important role in a socialist society,” Baghel said while talking to the reporters here.
He further said that the decision of the Central government not to decide Kharge in the summit is an ‘attack’ on the democracy of the country.
The G20 Summit, a highly anticipated event featuring top world leaders, including US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will be held at the International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) complex, also known as Bharat Mandapam, in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan on September 9 and 10. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated this complex on July 26 this year.
The G20 Summit being held in New Delhi under India’s Presidency will draw the participation of the top leaders. The G20, or the Group of Twenty, comprises 19 countries-- Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, the United States-- and the European Union.
Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and HD Deve Gowda were also invited to the G20 Summit dinner.
Former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda informed that he won't be able to attend the G20 dinner hosted by President Droupadi Murmu due to health reasons.
Deve Gowda, who has been invited to the G20 dinner on September 9, said he has communicated his decision to the government and wished the G20 Summit a grand success.
"I will not be attending the G20 dinner organised by the Hon'ble President of India Draupadi Murmuji, on 09 September 2023, due to health reasons. I have already communicated this to the government. I wish the G20 summit a grand success," the former Prime Minister posted on 'X'. (ANI)
