Udayanraje Bhosale demands legislation to take action against those giving "wrong statements" about Chhatrapati Shivaji

"Strict action should be taken against those who give wrong statements about Shahaji Chhatrapati Maharaj, Rajmata Jijau, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Whether it is the ruling party or the opposition, the state government and the central government should pass a law in the current session itself to take action against those who speak wrongly against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," Bhosale, who is the Lok Sabha MP and descendent of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, told reporters.

Satara (Maharashtra) [India], March 8 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Udayanraje Bhosale said that strict action must be taken against people, regardless of their political affiliation, who give "wrong statements" about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and other Maratha rulers.
He said that a law should be passed in the ongoing assembly session to take action against those who speak wrongly against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
"Strict action should be taken against those who give wrong statements about Shahaji Chhatrapati Maharaj, Rajmata Jijau, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Whether it is the ruling party or the opposition, the state government and the central government should pass a law in the current session itself to take action against those who speak wrongly against Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj," Bhosale, who is the Lok Sabha MP and descendent of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, told reporters on Friday.
Demanding the Maharashtra government to publish a book on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Bhosale said that a committee of history experts should be formed before making a historical film.
"The state government should publish an official book on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj so that wrong information regarding history is not spread. Also, before making a historical film, a committee of history experts should be formed," he added.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant also on Friday said that Azmi's membership from the Legislative Assembly should be cancelled over his statement on Aurangzeb.
Speaking to ANI, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant said, "His membership in the Legislative Assembly should be cancelled. You should understand that glorifying Aurangzeb means insulting Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. What could have been the reason for this statement?"
He also accused Azmi of diverting attention and said this was all a conspiracy by the BJP.
While everyone criticised Azmi's statement, he received the support of Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, who claimed that the suspension violated freedom of expression.
Earlier on Wednesday, Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar suspended Samajwadi Party MLA Abu Azmi for the entire duration of the ongoing budget session over his remarks on Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
Azmi had reportedly said that Aurangzeb was not a "cruel administrator" and "built many temples". He added that the battle between the Mughal emperor and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was for state administration and not about Hindu, Muslim. (ANI)
