Two-day national labour meet kicks off in Odisha
Bhubaneshwar (Odisha) [India], Sept. 20 (ANI): The two-day national labour conference kicked off in Bhubaneswar today. The event is being jointly organised by the state labour department and the International Labour Organisation. Union minister of state for labour and employment Bandaru Dattatreya and ministers and chairpersons of labour welfare boards of 29 states will attend the conference. Major issues pertaining to social security of organised and un-organised sector labourers, child and bonded labourers, various welfare measures, skill development as well as wage issues would be discussed at the conference. The conference will also likely to discuss about how to manage the labour welfare boards and regulate child labour laws in a better and effective ways. The conference bears a lot of significance for the labourers and trade unions, who had recently staged strike on September 2 on various issues including minimum wage fixation and proper implementation of labour laws.
