TV actor Shruti Ulfat gets bail for Rs. 50,000 in animal right violation case
Mumbai (Maharasthra) [India], Feb. 9(ANI): Television actress Shruti Ulfat who was arrested yesterday for posting pictures with an endangered Cobra on social media, secured a bail for Rs. five thousand. Shruti was earlier in the day produced before Mumbai's Boriwali court and sent in judicial custody till February 16. She was later released on bail on the security amount and also on the condition that she cannot travel abroad without informing the court and has to remain present whenever asked by the Forest Department. Shruti's lawyer Sunny Purnamiya said that the actor is set to challenge the above condition in the High Court. Ulfat and three members of the production team of TV series 'Nagarjuna - Ek Yoddha', Nitin Solanki, Utkarsh Bali and Pearl Puri were taken into custody by the Thane Forest Department yesterday on account of violating Wildlife Act of posing with a live cobra, as part of the promotional tool for the show, about four months back. Shruti shared pictures of her with an Indian spectacled Cobra on a social photo-sharing site. The reptile which was seen to be wrapped around her neck and hand in the pictures, is protected under Schedule I of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. It is an offence to use a live cobra for shooting or photographic purposes under the act. The actor was taken behind the bars, when an animal rights activist lodged a complaint against the actress to the Mumbai Range of the Thane Forest department after he saw the pictures.(ANI)
