Tuki has no right to continue as Arunachal CM: Kalikho Pul
Guwahati (Assam), July 16 (ANI): Accusing the Congress Party of horse-trading to win majority, Kalikho Pul, who lost the Arunachal Pradesh chief ministership following the Supreme Court judgment, has said that Nabam Tuki has no right to continue as the chief minister as he does not have the majority in the House. "It is an extra ordinary situation as he doesn't have majority. Today he had a Cabinet meeting where only three ministers were present out of 12. In the CRP meeting out of 45 members only 6 were present. A government cannot be run only through three ministers. Therefore, he has no right to continue as the Chief Minister," Pul told ANI here. "Tuki has asked for 30 days for the floor test after that a petition was filed in the Gauhati High Court for 10 days time for the same...the petition was however turned down by the High Court and also by the Governor. This is not a normal Assembly session because he (Nabam Tuki) doesnt have majority. Nabam Tuki has no right to be Chief Minister. We have 42 people on our side. Congress is trying to horse trade, they offering money and it is all over," he added. Arunachal Pradesh Governor Tathagata Roy has turned down the request of Nabam Tuki to defer the Assembly session and floor test for another ten days and asked him to prove his majority in the Assembly by today. Yesterday, Tuki convened the state cabinet meeting at his office in Itanagar, where the main agenda was the postponement of the Assembly session. Immediately after the cabinet Meeting, Tuki met the Governor and submitted a representation to defer the assembly session. Arunachal Pradesh State Assembly Speaker Nabam Rebia had also said that he had not received any formal letter from the Raj Bhawan about summoning of assembly session nor he has been consulted about it. He said that holding of Assembly session tomorrow is practically impossible. Rebia termed the order from the Raj Bhawan asking for convening the Assembly session in two days as unfortunate and a repetition of the same mistake Governor J.P. Rajkhowa did earlier. (ANI)
