"True leader looks forward, towards future and not in past": Priyanka Gandhi at rally in Dausa

Dausa (Rajasthan) [India], October 20 (ANI): In a veiled attack on PM Modi, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra emphasized that a genuine leader looks ahead to the future rather than dwelling on the past. She made this assertion during a public gathering in Dausa, Rajasthan, where she highlighted the efforts of the Congress government in Rajasthan to fortify and simplify the life journey of the people.

Priyanka Gandhi criticized the BJP, claiming that their leaders primarily serve their own interests and their industrialist associates. 

Addressing a public meeting in Rajasthan's Dausa, Priyanka Gandhi said that the Congress government in Rajasthan has tried to make the lives of people easier.

"What hopes do you keep from the government? You hope to decrease problems in your life, to stand with you in struggles in your life, to get facilities for your agriculture work... So that your future and your children's future are bright... To fulfil this hope, there is a need for understanding. A true leader looks forward, towards the future and not in the past. The Congress government in your state (Rajasthan) has tried to make your life journey stronger and easier," she said while indirectly attacking PM Modi who has been bashing the Congress in election speeches. 

The Congress General Secretary also underscored that the Rajasthan Congress has worked to ease the path of life for the people of Rajasthan.

"There is a Congress government in your state... If you see the journey of the last five years, you can say that the Rajasthan Congress tried to make the journey of your life easier... The leaders who truly want that state and country should go forward; they do not look only at themselves; they look for what is good for people," she said while addressing 

Lashing out at the BJP, the Congress general secretary said that BJP leaders work for themselves and their industrialist friends

"When there are elections, they (the BJP) talk about religion and caste. But you need to understand why these things are being said at the time of elections... Why is there no talk about your development? Why is there no talk about the OPS? You will have to ask these questions,'" she added. 

Priyanka Gandhi is on a Rajasthan tour to give a boost to the party’s campaign for the Assembly elections in the state.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced that the first phase of polling for 20 seats in Chhattisgarh will be held on November 7, and the remaining 70 seats in Chhattisgarh will go to polls on November 17.

The counting of votes for the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly, along with those for four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.

Congress emerged as the largest single party in the 2018 Assembly polls, with 101 seats, and formed the government with the support of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).

The Model Code of Conduct has come into force with the announcement of poll dates. The elections to five states are crucial as they are being held months before the Lok Sabha elections in April-May next year. (ANI)
