New Delhi [India], February 5 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday addressed a distribution program of over 2,800 appointment letters in the Tripura government, saying that joining the communist party cadre was no longer a requirement for jobs in Tripura. He said that Tripura has been transformed from a "land-locked" state to "land-linked" one.
"There was a communist rule here in the past. To get jobs in the government, one had to be a part of the communist cadre. I would like to thank the Chief Minister of Tripura for giving a chance to 2,806 youth, without any discrimination and with complete transparency," Shah said while addressing the gathering through video conferencing.
Shah stated that Tripura has been transformed from a "land-locked" state to "land-linked" state owing to the all-round development carried out by the Tripura government and the Union government. He said that after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came to power, the corruption and unrest in the state has been eliminated.
"In the past, Tripura was a land-locked state. Today, it is known as a land-linked state. For all-round development, the Tripura government and the Indian government have taken many initiatives, including the development of airports and roads to advancement related to water supply and irrigation. After the BJP government came to power, the corruption and unrest here has been eliminated," Shah said.
The Union Home Minister further stated that the northeast state was on the path of welfare as the government has made compromises to bring peace. He said that no armed groups were operational in Tripura.
"Earlier, north East was infamous for extremism, infiltration, blockade, drugs, arms trafficking, corruption and caste-based tensions. Now, it is known for development, connectivity, infrastructure, education, investment and agricultural development. In the last 10 years, we have made three compromises to bring peace here, which include giving permanent residence to people from the BBru and Reang castes. No armed group operates in Tripura today. It has moved forward on its way to welfare," Shah said. (ANI)
