Trinamool Congress ask President to intervene to stop 'super emergency'
New Delhi, [India], Jan. 11 (ANI): Continuing their fight against demonetisation, the Trinamool Congress on Wednesday asserted that everyone is deeply affected by it and asked the President to intervene to stop this national emergency. "On the first day of winter session of Parliament on November 16, our chairperson and the Chief Minister of Bengal Mamta Banerjee led a delegation on the subject of demonetisation and the pain and suffering it was causing to millions across the country. TMC's 46 MPs were also part of the delegation which went to meet the President," TMC leader, Derek O' Brien said. He added that around 35 per cent of job losses have been reported in the micro and the small scale industries, saying that the Prime Minister is accountable and responsible for the 120 deaths happened because of this move. "Jobs are being lost across the country whether it's fishermen, farmers, plantation workers, housewives, students, retailers or traders. Everyone is deeply affected by demonetisation. We brought this to the notice of the President. After outlining the grim situation and the acute crisis, after sharing it with the President, we call this a super emergency," O' Brien said. The Trinamool Congress led by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee has opposed this move, he added. "The TMC is not scared by these dirty tricks of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the government. We are deeply thankful to the honorable President, who himself has expressed his strong views on this subject. We have again asked him to intervene to stop this national emergency," O' Brien said. Mamta Banerjee appealed to President Pranab Mukherjee to save the nation by setting up another government as the ruling dispensation is incapable of running the Centre.(ANI)
