Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], October 25 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) working president and Minister KT Rama Rao on Wednesday criticised the Congress party and its leaders for their lack of commitment to Telangana adding that the grand old party that has been tried tested and dusted.
KT Rama Rao took a dig at the Congress pointing out its decline over the years and slammed the party for its declining performance in Telangana.
Speaking to the media, KT Rama Rao said, "Congress has been given ample opportunities by the people of Telangana and the country but the party has failed miserably. Not only itself but India as well. Congress is a party that has been tried tested and dusted," he said.
"Nobody sees Mallikarjun Kharge as the president. Who is Rahul Gandhi to ask about family and dynasty in Telangana?" he asked.
Speaking of Congress' failure in the state of Karnataka, KTR said that "Congress was given a chance in Karnataka and see what are they going through right now".
He also drew the stark contrast between the Telangana Govt under the BRS regime and the dismal conditions in Karnataka under the Congress rule and advised the grand old party to "First run the government of Karnataka properly and then focus on Telangana."
KT Rama Rao's statement comes after Rahul Gandhi's 'dynastic rule barb in Telangana.
Earlier, hitting out at Rahul Gandhi for alleging that there is a dynastic rule in Telangana, KTR said that the Congress MP himself comes from a family that has a dynastic background.
"Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi came to Telangana. They went to Rammappa temple. It is a good thing. After coming back from there, they talked and abused as they wish. Rahul Gandhi comes and says that KCR's rule is dynastic. Who is Rahul Gandhi? He is the son of Sonia Gandhi. Who is daughter of Rajiv Gandhi? Who is the son of Indira Gandhi? Who is the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru? He is coming here and saying that KCR's rule is dynastic...How is this justice?" said KTR.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi in his recent visit to Telangana said that there is a secret alliance between the BRS and the BJP and that the Bhartiya Janata party wants the BRS to win the state elections.
The state will witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi, and Congress.
In the previous Assembly election held in 2018, BRS won 88 seats out of 119 seats with a vote share of 47.4 per cent. Congress came in a distant second with 19 seats.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on October 9 announced that the Telangana Assembly polls are scheduled to be held on November 30. The counting of votes will be done on December 3. (ANI)
