Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], November 3 (ANI): Actor-politician Vijay's party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Sunday held its executive and district secretaries meeting and passed resolutions condemning BJP-led Union Government and the DMK-led State Government over various issues.
26 resolutions were passed in the meeting. They include those condemning the Centre's proposal for a 'One Nation One Election' and the DMK government's "poor" handling of law and order and state finances.
The party also accused the DMK government of not fulfilling poll promises.
Vijay, the party chief, chaired the meeting in which the party General Secretary N Anand, and other functionaries participated.
This is one such first meeting after the massive TVK maiden State Conference in Vikravandi. According to insiders, there was discussion about strengthening of organization on the ground and an action plan for the party for upcoming months.
The resolution condemning the 'One Nation One Election' said the proposal is against the principles of democracy.
The party also opposed the Waqf Board Amendment Bill.
"There has been opposition to the Waqf Board Amendment Bill saying it affects the rights of Muslims. Union Government has to withdraw this bill which is against federalism structure" the resolution read.
The party also asked the DMK-led State Government to conduct a caste census in the state.
Passing a resolution against NEET, the party slammed the Centre for not moving education into the State List from the Concurrent List.
TVK also indirectly attacked State Governor RN Ravi over the controversy on the Tamil State song.
One resolution says, "First they saffronized Thiruvalluvar. Then they said Tamilazhagam is different, Tamil Nadu is different. Then created controversy in Tamil State Song.. Not only the union government but also their appointees here don't have any right to interfere with anything related to our mother tongue Tamil. Union Government dream to impose the third language here will never be achieved ever here."
"According to our demand for State Autonomy policy, Education belongs to the State list. If the Union Government moves education to the State List, the state government can revoke NEET on its own. This executive committee opposes the Union Government's obstacle to this and also opposes State DMK government for cheating Tamil Nadu people with fake promises," the resolution on the NEET issue reads.
