Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 2 (ANI): Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh on Thursday said that the TMC was "aware" of the school recruitment scam adding that the party could have stopped the system from going "uneasy."
"One month ago, I had asked the party to release me from my duties. I was also on the star campaigners' list, but now I am not. The party has given a chance to new faces, this is a good thing... The party had information for a long time that something was wrong in the job recruitment case. This is why Partha Chatterjee was removed from the Education Department in 2021. If the party had seriously intervened in the matter, job seekers wouldn't have to face any trouble. We could have stopped the system from going uneasy," Ghosh told ANI.
"I am enjoying the scenes going on in the party, this is a comedy film going on. I am the worker of the party and I will work for the people of my area," he added.
Meanwhile, supporters of TMC leader Ghosh gathered at his office in Kolkata.
The TMC leader again asserted that whether he is on a post or not, if the public faces any problem, he will stand with the public.
"I have said it before and I say it again today, whether I remain on a post or not, but if the public faces any problem, I will stand with the public. Kunal Ghosh does not need any posts. I walk on the path. I will stay wherever there are Trinamool workers. I will continue to take my party forward with this objective," Ghosh said.
Moreover, BJP leader Samik Bhattacharya demanded a statement from the West Bengal Chief Minister on TMC leader Kunal Ghosh's statement on the West Bengal job recruitment case.
"We want a statement from CM Mamata Banerjee," he said.
Earlier today, the Trinamool Congress issued a list of 40-star campaigners for the fifth phase of Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal on Thursday. Notably, Kunal Ghosh who was removed from the post of General Secretary on Wednesday did not feature in the campaigners' list released by the party.
A day after being removed as the party's general secretary, which came close on the heels of his removal as the official spokesperson, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh claimed on Thursday that he had already resigned from these posts earlier and there was no need for the ruling party in the state to make the same official through a press release.
After being spotted at a blood donation camp alongside the BJP's Kolkata Uttar candidate Tapas Roy, where he sang his praises, Kunal was promptly removed as the TMC general secretary. An official communication to this effect was issued by the Mamata Banerjee-led party on Thursday.
In the official communication following his removal as general secretary, the TMC said the views he expressed at the public event did align with the party's position and shouldn't be attributed to it. (ANI)
