TMC to observe November 8 as 'Black Day'

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], October 25 (ANI): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday said Trinamool Congress would observe November 8, the first anniversary of demonetisation, as 'Black Day' across the state.

Last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 scrapped Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 notes overnight in a shock move aimed to curb 'black money'.

Banerjee said TMC will conduct rallies across the state to mark 'Black Day'.

"TMC will observe November 8 as 'Black Day' and conduct rallies throughout the state carrying black flags," she said, while speaking at an extended core committee meeting of Trinamool Congress in Kolkata.

Yesterday, Opposition parties had decided to observe the day as ''black day'.

Beginning November 8, until next three days, central trade unions have plan to demonstrate against the Centre's economic policies and its impact on both organised and unorganised workers.

After declaring two high-value currency notes as non-legal tender, the government has introduced new Rs.200, Rs. 500 and Rs.2000 notes. (ANI)
