TMC tears into Prasad over his remark
Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], May 3 (ANI): The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravi Shankar Prasad and asked the Union Law Minister to uphold the dignity of his office. Reacting to Prasad's comment that the TMC is scared by the BJP's emergence in West Bengal, party leader Derek O Brien told ANI, "I think he is crossing the line, economical on facts, sitting in Delhi with no knowledge of Bengal and making these hollow statements. I will appeal to the law minister to uphold the dignity of his office." Prasad said that the BJP is surging in the state making the TMC bewildered of its rising presence. "They have no clue about Bengal, because only a few months ago people of Bengal deliverer a strong message to the BJP, asking them to not come with their cheap communal politics, that was the message to the BJP," Brien said. Prasad attacked Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accusing her party of abducting the tribal couple, whose house BJP chief Amit Shah had dined at, and forcefully making them supporters of the TMC. "Yesterday, the TMC workers kidnapped the tribal couple. Our BJP unit tried to register a case in Siliguri, but it was not registered, and today, we were informed that they have declared themselves to be supporters of the TMC," Prasad said. "It is indeed an tragedy of our times that Bengal for long years, was a victim of the overpowering fear and reckless violence of the Left, and now, it is a victim of reckless violence and overpowering fear of the TMC," he added.
