TMC writes to EC against Bengal poll observer Ajay Nayak.

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], Apr 20 (ANI): Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday wrote a letter to the Election Commission of India (ECI) against Ajay V Nayak, special observer for Bengal for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
The party approached the EC over Nayak’s comment, where he said that “the present condition of Bengal is like it used to be in Bihar 10 years ago and that 'everything is not well with democracy in Bengal.”
“Ajay V Nayak, Special Observer for Bengal in the Parliament General Election, 2019, has been quoted as saying today that the present condition of Bengal is like what it used to be in Bihar ten years ago and that everything is not well with democracy in Bengal. This is highly objectionable and undesirable,” the party said in its letter to the EC.
The party asked that when Nayak himself mentioned that the polls were peaceful, then what was the reason for making such statements?
“It is not understood what happened within less than 48 hours that made him make a remark about Bengal and sought to bring it as a justification of deployment of central forces in nearly 92 per cent of the polling booths in the third-phase election in the state,” the party said.
TMC further claimed that Nayak’s statements were “highly misplaced,” adding that his statements were politically motivated.
“Nayak has political and organizational allegiance to the RSS and is connected to the BJP leaders and BJP in-charge of the state of West Bengal. His statements clearly indicate that he has acted as per the instruction of his political boss, that is, party in power at the Center, that is, BJP,” the party said.
West Bengal is having elections in all seven phases since April 11. The election will conclude on May 19. The results will be announced on May 23. (ANI)
