Channapatna (Karnataka) [India], October 28 (ANI): Union Minister for Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy on Monday expressed confidence in his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy's victory in the Channapatna bypoll and said that people of the region will bless him with victory in the elections.
He assured that there were no concerns about the election outcome. Additionally, he addressed ongoing issues like the Waqf controversy and farmer protests in Vijayapura, noting that the central government is taking serious steps to resolve these matters.
"Particularly Channapatna is the stronghold of the NDA. Here there is no problem. Our NDA candidate is going to win comfortably. There is no doubt at all...This time people of Channapatna will bless him (Nikhil Kumaraswamy)...Already regarding the Waqf issue, criticism has been started. The farmers are protesting in Vijayapura. The central government also has taken some serious steps to sort it out," said the Union Minister.
He also accused Congress of engaging in revenge politics. "Congress leaders are defaming me in their campaign. I am focused on development, and that is the main difference between them and me," he stated.
He assured that efforts are underway to establish a large industry between Channapatna and Ramnagara, aimed at providing local employment.
HD Kumaraswamy emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted him with significant portfolios of heavy industries and steel, and he is committed to delivering benefits to the people of Ramnagara district.
On the question of CP Yogeshwara joining the congress, Kumaraswamy said "We said that we would give tickets. The BJP was also preparing to issue tickets. We decided to step back from the Channapatna constituency, influenced by BJP leaders' words. However, disregarding everyone's advice, he joined Congress, and now he is spreading false propaganda."
Union Minister mentioned that there has been derogatory language used against him and his father. "I won't lose my peace over their choice of words. The people of Channapatna will decide," he added.
While addressing the public in Kudluru village, he asked them to keep the plots that had been provided to them. He promised that other villagers would also receive land deeds and that the government would assist them in building dwellings.
During the campaign in Channapatna, Yaduveer Wodeyar, Member of Parliament for Mysore-Kodagu, accompanied him. He stated that under PM Narendra Modi's leadership, India is rapidly developing, and Kumaraswamy is working very actively in the cabinet.
"The state Congress government is mired in corruption. Since coming to power, it has been embroiled in scandals. Nikhil Kumaraswamy played a significant role in the padayatra against the MUDA scandal from Bengaluru to Mysore. He has all the opportunities to grow as a good leader. The people of Channapatna should support Nikhil,'' Wodeyar added.
Before the campaigning, the Union minister visited the residence of senior party leader TP Puttasiddhegowda along with Yaduveer.
Earlier, Congress candidate CP Yogeshwara stated that Kumaraswamy is unaware of the number of lakes in Channapatna. Kumaraswamy responded by saying that visiting the villages demonstrates the reality of his job. (ANI)
