Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], December 26 (ANI): Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President BY Vijayendra has attacked the Congress party for allegedly displaying distorted Indian maps at the Belagavi convention, stating that it reflects the mindset of the Congress party.
The BJP President further claimed that the party had deliberately used this distorted map not just in Karnataka, but across the country.
"Yesterday, Congress displayed an alleged 'distorted' map of India. Today, they have clarified it after it appeared in the media. But the fact reflects the mindset of the Congress party. Not only in Karnataka, but across the entire country, Congress has deliberately used this distorted map. This shows their mindset," he said.
Vijayendra also announced that the BJP would hold a protest on December 27 to oppose the Congress convention taking place in Belagavi.
"So tomorrow, the BJP and all our MLAs will stage a protest before the Gandhi statue at Vidhana Soudha," he said.
Meanwhile, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi on Thursday accused the Congress party of using distorted Indian maps at the Belagavi convention, citing a social media post from 'BJP4Karnataka', the Karnataka state wing of the BJP.
The social media post from 'BJP4Karnataka' reads, "@INCKarnataka has shown utter disrespect for India's sovereignty by displaying a distorted map at their Belagavi event, portraying Kashmir as part of Pakistan. All this just to appease their vote bank. This is shameful!"
BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi stated that the incident has made it clear that Congress has links with powers that are "trying to break India."
Addressing a press conference, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi expressed his dismay over the incident, saying that while the nation observes Veer Bal Divas, Congress is using "distorted maps" that "ache the hearts."
"...Today our nation is observing Veer Bal Divas, but at this moment, another picture emerges that aches our hearts. BJP Karnataka has posted a tweet in which it can be seen that at the event organised by Congress in Belagavi, the Indian map they displayed omits Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and Aksai Chin. They have done similar things in the past as well. The important thing is that they displayed this alongside a photo of Mahatma Gandhi. I want to express my pain... It has become clear that Congress has connections with the powers that are trying to break India," Trivedi said.
Congress is holding its CWC meeting on December 26 and 27 in Belagavi to celebrate the centenary of the 1924 session of the party. (ANI)
