"This is not the time to do politics, this is the time to work together": BJD MP Amar Pattnaik on Parliament security breach

New Delhi [India], December 15 (ANI): Reacting to the security breach in Lok Sabha and the subsequent suspension of the 13 opposition MPs from the Parliament for the remainder of the winter session, Rajya Sabha MP from Odisha's Biju Janata Dal leader Amar Patnaik on Friday said "This is not the time to do politics, but this is the time to work together and give a message to people that India is one and all political parties are one on this."
"This is not the time to do politics, but this is the time to work together and give a message to people that India is one and all political parties are one on this. No attack on the temple of democracy, on parliament, or on democracy itself would be tolerated by anyone," Patnaik told ANI.
In a security breach during Zero Hour in Parliament on Wednesday afternoon, two men, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan, both carrying canisters that emitted yellow smoke, jumped from the visitors' gallery into the Lower House.
Meanwhile, outside Parliament, two protesters, Neelam and Amol, used similar-coloured gas canisters and raised slogans.
A total of 13 MPs were suspended from Parliament on Thursday "for creating a ruckus" in the House over their demand for a statement on the breach.
In response to calls from the opposition for comments from Home Minister Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the Lok Sabha security lapse, Pralhad Joshi, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, proposed two separate motions for the suspension of the MPs.
Among the 13 MPs suspended from the Lok Sabha, nine are from the Congress, two from the CPM, one from the CPI, and one from the DMK.
In the Rajya Sabha, TMC MP Derek O'Brien was suspended for the rest of the Winter Session for 'gross misconduct' and 'defying the Chair' during the proceedings on Thursday morning.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari criticised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for not addressing the issue of the Lok Sabha security breach in the House, terming it contempt.
Tiwari further highlighted the suspension of those who protested against the breach, while no action has been taken against the MP who issued the pass.
"The government is responsible. The posts are lying vacant. The Union Home Minister is not giving a statement in front of the House; this is contempt of the House. Those who raised their voice against this are being suspended and no action is being taken against the MP who issued the pass." Tiwari told ANI.

"The Union Home Minister should inform the country about the politics in it. I want the Home Minister to talk about it. MPs in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha want a discussion on this. What's the politics in it?" Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut told ANI.
"You've suspended the opposition MPs, but the MPs of your party, using their influence, entered Parliament, and no action has been taken on that," Raut said, allegedly pointing towards the role of a BJP leader for his alleged involvement behind the Parliament smoke scare.
Meanwhile, Delhi's Patiala House Court on Thursday granted seven days of custodial remand to all four accused persons arrested in connection with the Parliament security breach matter.
The fifth accused, Lalit Jha, was also arrested by Delhi Police on Thursday. (ANI)
