New Delhi [India], January 27 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate from Karawal Nagar constituency, Kapil Mishra said that the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections are an "election for change" while claiming an "anti-incumbency wave" in Delhi.
He further exuded confidence in the BJP forming the government in the national capital.
"This is an election for change. There is an anti-incumbency wave in Delhi. On 8 February 2025, the BJP government is going to be formed in Delhi," Kapil Mishra told ANI.
"All the sins of theirs, whether it is corruption, deceit or lies or the liquor policy will be exposed. Another issue is that when the (2020) riots happened, AAP people did not come out to help the people anyway, and now they have given a ticket to someone who tried to help Tahir Hussain, so people are troubled and people will give a befitting reply to them," he added.
Tahir Hussain, an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots case, has been fielded by the AIMIM from the Mustafabad constituency. He was previously associated with AAP but was suspended from the party after his name surfaced in these allegations.
Attacking Kejriwal further, Mishra further alleged that the former Chief Minister would be sent to Tihar jail again.
"There is a board outside Tihar Jail on which it is written that Kejriwal will come again, he will go there only. His (Arvind Kejriwal) credibility is over, he is the past Chief Minister and soon enough he will become a past politician too," the BJP candidate said.
Earlier on Sunday, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed a public rally in support of Kapil Mishra.
"8 February, Dilli Kejriwal se free'... Now free him. You have tolerated enough in these 10 years. Kapil Mishra is not just a leader of the present, he is also the future of Delhi," Chouhan said during the rally.
Praising the speech candidate Kapil Mishra said, "The Delhi's public was given a voice by Chouhan ji, their speech had the pain of Delhi and also hope that people will not get trapped and vote for change," Mishra mentioned
The elections are scheduled on February 5 and the counting of votes is set for February 8. A total of 699 candidates are in contest for the 70 Assembly seats in the National Capital.
AAP dominated the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections, winning 67 and 62 seats, respectively, out of a total of 70 seats, while BJP secured only three and eight seats in these elections. (ANI)
