Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 5 (ANI): Ahead of Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) set to address joint rally in Worli after the Maharashtra government scrapped two Government Resolutions (GRs) to introduce Hindi as the third language, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut said that the two prominent leaders of the Thackeray family will give direction to the Marathi Manush.
While speaking to reporters, Sanjay Raut said, "It is like a festival for all of us in Maharashtra that two prominent leaders of the Thackeray family, who separated due to their political ideologies, are finally coming together to share a stage after 20 years. This has been our wish throughout that we should fight those who are against the people of Maharashtra. By coming together today, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray will definitely give direction to the Marathi Manush."
Recently, the Maharashtra government withdrew its April 16 orders on the implementation of the three-language policy that made Hindi a "mandatory" third language for school students in Classes 1 to 5 studying in English and Marathi medium schools.
MNS leader Sandeep Sudhakar Deshpande said, "It is a historic day. We are not only celebrating at his venue, but Marathi people are celebrating 5th July as victory day at several places in Maharashtra, because the way our government was trying to impose Hindi on us, it is a victory against that. I don't think this victory rally should be seen politically. This is not a political rally, it is a victory of the Marathi people."
Informing about the cancellation of the resolutions that were passed on April 16 and June 17, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that a committee will be formed to discuss the implementation of the three-language formula in the state.
CM Fadnavis on Friday warned of strict legal action against those engaging in "hooliganism" in the name of Marathi. He stated that the Mahayuti government will not tolerate violence against common people.
"It is not wrong to be proud of the Marathi language in Maharashtra. But if someone indulges in hooliganism due to language, we will not tolerate it. If someone beats up people based on language, this will not be tolerated. The police have filed an FIR and taken action on the incident, and if anyone creates such a language dispute in future, legal action will be taken," Fadnavis told reporters here. (ANI)
