Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 16 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has slammed the previous government, accusing them of preventing the reopening of the ancient Shiva-Hanuman Temple in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, for over four decades.
The temple was recently reopened on December 14, following an anti-encroachment drive by local authorities.
Speaking in the state assembly, CM Yogi said, "They (Samajwadi Party) never allowed to open the temple, which is being opened now, since 1978..."
CM Yogi also warned that those involved in the recent stone-pelting incident in Sambhal would be brought to justice. "Not a single arrest has been made without evidence (in Sambhal), and I would like to remind you that none of those indulging in stone pelting would be spared. We follow the directions of the Supreme Court. We respect the court too...When one reads the original copy of the Constitution they will find that it doesn't mention secular or socialism anywhere...", he added.
Meanwhile, three idols were recovered from a well near the ancient Shiva-Hanuman Temple in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, following the temple's reopening during an anti-encroachment drive.
The temple, which had reportedly remained closed since 1978, was reopened on December 14 as part of an encroachment clearance operation carried out by local police and administration.
Meanwhile, the Winter Assembly session of the Uttar Pradesh Vidhan Sabha commenced on Monday in Lucknow, with extensive security arrangements in place.
On the first day of the session, a formal business session will be conducted in the House, while the supplementary budget, expected to range between Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 crore, will be presented on December 17.
Discussions and passage of the budget are scheduled for December 18. The legislative work will take place in the House on December 19 and 20.

The Winter Assembly session will conclude on December 20. (ANI)
