Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 7 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Chief Ajit Pawar on Thursday attacked Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over their poll announcements and said that three lakh crore rupees are needed every year to fulfil their promises made by them and the opposition alliance is lying and misleading people.
Speaking to ANI, Ajit Pawar said, "Rs three lakh crore is needed every year to fulfil the promises made by them (Maha Vikas Aghadi). To fulfil our (Mahayuti) promises, we need Rs 75,000 crore. They said they will give many things for free, but where will they get the money from? They are lying and misleading people."
The NCP Chief further exuded confidence in winning the Maharashtra Assembly elections.
"We are getting everyone's support in this rally. There should be good voting on November 20 and our candidates should win on the 23rd and the Mahayuti government should be formed," Pawar said.
The opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) on Wednesday announced five guarantees ahead of Maharashtra assembly polls at a joint rally here including Mahalakshmi Yojana for women under which Rs 3,000 will be given per month to one woman in every family and free bus travel for women.
He also took a dig at Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who held 'Samvidhan Sammelan' in Nagpur on Wednesday while holding a copy of the Constitution.
"I came to know from the media that the Constitution he was holding was empty inside," Ajit Pawar added.
Pawar was campaigning for NCP candidate from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar Nawab Malik and Anushakti Nagar candidate Sana Malik.
Nawab Malik exuded confidence that the people are supporting him and despite Mahayuti fielding a candidate against him, he will win the elections.
"We are contesting the elections on the request of the people. Ajit Dada (Pawar) has made me the candidate. I am the NCP candidate, and Mahayuti has fielded its candidate against me. The people are with us and we will win," Malik said.
The BJP and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) have publicly opposed Malik's candidature, with BJP Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar confirming the party would not campaign for him. Shiv Sena has also raised objections, alleging Malik's supposed links to underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim.
In Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar, Shiv Sena, a Mahayuti alliance member alongside NCP, has fielded Suresh 'Bullet' Patil to contest against Nawab Malik.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, with counting for all 288 constituencies on November 23. (ANI)
