Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 21 (ANI): Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut held a press conference here on Monday ahead of the Maharashtra elections which are scheduled to be held on November 20.
Raut spoke on the seat-sharing formula of Maha Vikas Aghadi and said that the matter would be finalized by this evening.
"There is nothing like delay by the Congress. The matter will be finalized by this evening. Congress has high command in Delhi and their decisions are made there. BJP leaders and Shinde's faction leaders are also in Delhi. With the high command in Delhi, they will have to go there again and again. There is nothing we can do about it. I think there won't be any differences and we will sit together and take our decision," he said.
Further, he commented on the Maharashtra Congress leaders and said that every party has the right to speak, however, when it comes to seat sharing, everyone has to make sacrifices.
"This is an alliance. Everyone has the right to speak about their role but when it comes to seat sharing, everyone has to make a few sacrifices and take a step back. We have been in politics for years, every party feels that their workers should be made candidates," the Shiv Sena member said
He also said that the party's tuning did not sit well with BJP.
"Congress is a national party. It is a party even bigger than the BJP. What do we talk about with a big party? Their high command is in Delhi, and their talks are being held. All leaders of Maharashtra are our friends. BJP is an international party, so our tuning did not sit well with them. BJP What do we talk about with an international party? What guidance can I give them? They have several guides. It is not right for Uddhav Thackeray or me to guide them. We work on the ground and in the interest of Maharashtra. We consider our national interest the most important."
On October 20, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its first list of 99 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections.
Maharashtra has 288 Assembly seats, and the BJP is part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance alongside the Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) and Ajit Pawar-led NCP.
As election day nears, both the Mahayuti alliance and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) -- comprising the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), and Congress -- have intensified their preparations, including seat-sharing discussions. (ANI)
