Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], April 18 (ANI): Congress's Dhenkanal Lok Sabha candidate Sashmita Behera on Thursday expressed confidence in the party's victory in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and Assembly polls in Odisha.
There is an atmosphere of change in the country and people are fed up with the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led BJD government in Odisha, she added.
Behera said that the results in 2024 will be surprising, and the INDIA Alliance will secure a majority.
"There is an atmosphere of change in the entire country, same in Odisha, people are fed up seeing this government. The country is moving towards autocracy...We will reach out to people with Congress' 5 guarantees of Nyay (Yuva Nyay, Bhagidari Nyay, Naari Nyay, Kisan Nyay and Shramik Nyay)...2024 result will be unexpected, and the wind will change, INDIA Alliance will secure the majority. In the centre, Congress will be voted to power, so as in Odisha, people will uproot this Biju Janata Dal (BJD)," she said.
Notably, in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) got the maximum number of seats, followed by the BJP and the Congress. The BJD won 12 seats, the BJP finished a close second at 8 seats and the Congress bagged just a lone seat.
The Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, which comprise 21 constituencies, are set to take place in four phases. The voting dates have been scheduled for May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1.
The Lok Sabha polls in the country are scheduled to take place from April 19, 2024, to June 1, 2024, to choose the 543 representatives for the 18th Lok Sabha. These elections will be conducted over seven phases, with the outcome being declared on June 4. (ANI)
