Patna (Bihar) [India], August 18 (ANI): Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for challenging the grant of bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav saying that such efforts will "continue till elections".
"This effort will continue till elections. The greatest fear they have is from Bihar. So they are investigating," Tejaswi Yadav said while speaking to reporters on the CBI's latest move.
The RJD leader said that they are not deterred by the CBI's actions and will present their side to the court.
"We will present our side to the court. Nothing will happen from this no matter how much they harass us. We are clear from our side what we will do," the Deputy Chief Minister said.
Speaking on the alleged efforts of the central government to harass opposition leaders through central investigating agencies, Tejaswi Yadav said, "No one fears them nor will anyone bow to them. We will fight and we will win."
Taking on the BJP for referring to the Bihar government as 'Jungle Raj 2', the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister said that it has become the work of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to tarnish the image of Bihar.
"BJP's work is to tarnish the image of Bihar. No one has insulted Bihar more than the BJP. This will not go on for long," Tejaswi Yadav said.
The RJD leader also hit out at the BJP on Delhi recording the largest number of crimes, as against Bihar.
"According to the NCRB record, the crime is highest in Delhi be it murder, kidnapping, rape or loot. All this is happening in Delhi, the capital of the country where the PM, President lives. The Delhi Police comes under the purview of the Home Ministry," Tejaswi Yadav said.
Reacting to the 'Parivarvad' (dynast) comment of the BJP, Tejaswi Yadav said, "They have been saying this for long. This is a democracy. We have fought elections. We have been elected to power."
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Friday agreed to list the petition filed by CBI challenging the grant of bail to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Doranda Treasury case of Jharkhand in which he was sentenced to five years jail term.
The former Bihar Chief Minister is currently out on bail due to ill health after his conviction in various fodder scam cases.
Yadav was sentenced to five years in prison with a fine of Rs 60 lakh by a special CBI court in Ranchi in connection with the fifth fodder scam case involving embezzlement of over Rs 139 crore by Doranda Treasury.
Yadav has been convicted in five fodder scam cases pertaining to the fraudulent withdrawal of money from Doranda, Deoghar, Dumka and Chaibasa treasuries in Jharkhand.
The Supreme Court has also held RJD leader and former MP Prabhunath Singh guilty in the 1995 double murder case, overturning the Patna High Court order acquitting him. (ANI)
