Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], November 5 (ANI): Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday after his helicopter was delayed for over 90 minutes due to security restrictions for the PM. Soren said their conspiracy continues.
Speaking to ANI, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren remarked, "Their conspiracy keeps going."
JMM candidate Mahua Maji also commented on the incident, highlighting that Soren's programs are pre-approved by the Election Commission (EC). "The Chief Minister was made to sit for two hours. If he faces difficulties like this, whom can he appeal to?" she asked.
Mahua Maji noted that the CM is a star campaigner for the Congress, JMM, RJD, and INDIA alliance and is actively holding multiple rallies each day. "He could have addressed meetings at four or five locations at this time. Remember how the Enforcement Directorate (ED) detained him for five months during the Lok Sabha elections, only for the Supreme Court to later rule there was no evidence against him," she stated.
Maji emphasised that President Droupadi Murmu is the only authority they can appeal to for intervention, urging her to address the issue. "Our President is also a tribal woman and CM Soren is a young tribal leader. We ask her to intervene in this matter."
"Now, if it will be like this in this election, then how will he go among the public? There is only one person to appeal to about this problem: our President, Droupadi Murmu. She is also a tribal woman, and our Chief Minister is also a popular young tribal leader. So he has appealed to the President to intervene in this matter. What should we do in such a situation?" she added.
Earlier today, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) had written to President Droupadi Murmu, seeking her intervention after Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren's helicopter was not allowed to take off for over 90 minutes as PM Narendra Modi was visiting the state.
Earlier, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) formally requested President Murmu's intervention, pointing out that CM Soren's helicopter was delayed for security measures travelling only 150 kilometres. According to the letter, the EC had notified that, for security purposes, a no-fly zone within a 50-kilometre radius would be enforced around the PM, with a restriction on flights for 15 minutes.
Prime Minister Modi had campaigned in Jharkhand on Monday ahead of the state's Assembly elections.
The 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will go to polls in two phases on November 13 and 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23. (ANI)
