Haveri (Karnataka) [India], April 18 (ANI): Former Karnataka chief minister and BJP candidate for the ensuing Lok Sabha elections, Basavaraj Bommai on Thursday took a dig at Congress, and termed the poll promises by the opposition party as "temporary ones".
Speaking at the women's convention organised by BJP Mahila Morcha in Akki Alur in Hangal taluk on Thursday the BJP's Gadag-Haveri Lok Sabha constituency candidate lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying that the PM has given permanent guarantee schemes to make women self-reliant.
"While the Modi's guarantees were permanent, the promises of the Congress government were temporary. The state government has promised to give RS 2000 for woman head of the family under the Gruha Laxmi scheme but not all the women had been benefited out of it. The sandals of those women who has given the application forms have flattened. The Congress guarantees were the cheating guarantees," he said.
He also said that the people must vote for the BJP to strengthen the hands of the PM Modi to 'ensure a bright future for the kids'.
"We have to build the nation and protect the safety of people. They must vote for the BJP to strengthen the hands of the PM Modi to ensure a bright future for the kids. I will honestly serve you if they give me a chance," he added.
Noted actress Tara Anuradha, Chennamma Bommai, State BJP Mahila Morcha General Secretary Shobha Nissimagoudar, Haveri District BJP Women Morcha President Srushti Patil, former minister Manohar Tahsildar and others were present.
On this occasion, hundreds of workers from other parties joined BJP.
