Panchkula (Haryana) [India], November 11 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister's Press Secretary Praveen Atreya on Monday accused Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala of telling "lies" and misleading farmers in the state. "Surjewala must understand that lies are not the basis of politics," he said.
"Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala tried to mislead the farmers of Haryana by telling a lie. Randeep Singh Surjewala should understand that politics cannot run based on lies. I believe that the way the farmers and the people of Haryana defeated Congress in the (assembly) elections, the Congress leaders are in shock and frustrated. Perhaps, this is the reason why Randeep Surjewala is trying to mislead the people of Haryana and the farmers by telling lies continuously," Atreya said in a self-made video.
Atreya's remarks against Congress leader Surjwala come after the latter questioned the decision of Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
"Randeep Surjewala asked some questions to Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. First of all, Randeep Surjewala should understand the work that the Chief Minister of the state is doing today in the interest of farmers, he proved this the day he took charge as Chief Minister. For example, when there was less than average rainfall, he immediately transferred a bonus of Rs 2,000 per acre to the accounts of the farmer brothers. This is his thinking in the interest of farmers," the Press Secretary to Haryana CM said.
A few weeks earlier, Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala on Friday called out the Bhartiya Janata party for issuing an order regarding the farmers burning stubble and even "denying a Minimum support price for them".
"On the very first day of the formation of the Haryana government, the BJP government issued an order to abolish the MSP of farmers. On one hand, an FIR will be registered against the farmer for burning stubble and on the other hand, the farmers' crop will not be purchased at MSP for 2 years. This is a direct anti-farmer conspiracy of the BJP government led by Nayab Singh Saini because farmers did not vote for the BJP in Haryana...Is this not a direct conspiracy to abolish MSP through the backdoor?" Surjewala said. (ANI)
