Telangana government firms up cashless action plan

Hyderabad (Telangana)[India], Dec.7 (ANI): Telangana Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday had a meeting with bankers and postal department officials on implementing of cashless transactions in the state.

Hyderabad (Telangana)[India], Dec.7 (ANI): Telangana Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday had a meeting with bankers and postal department officials on implementing of cashless transactions in the state. Rao said the Telangana Government has taken such a step to serve the people on implementing cashless transaction at the district level. "As per the orders of the Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekar Rao, we have to make Telangana state a cashless society. The Panchayat Raj and Rural Development department is trying to open 100 percent accounts, and as per the requirement, we held a meeting with bankers, postal department, cooperative banks," he said. "We have to create a roadmap within three days and from December 11 we will go to every village. Banks which have over 3000 branches have been asked to visit at least two villages to open Jan Dhan accounts of people who do not have them. These banks have also been instructed to provide biometric registration to those who are not registered, give debit cards to them and give swiping machines in the Panchayat," he added. Rao asserted that people do not have to visit banks and all transactions will be cashless which will benefit them. The Telangana Government had on Monday said that Ibrahimpur village in the Siddipet Assembly constituency has become cashless, claiming it is the first hamlet in south India to become so.(ANI)
