Nalgonda (Telangana) [India], November 18 (ANI): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that the upcoming Assembly election in Telangana is between the good governance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the negligence shown by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Home Minister said that the meaning of Bharat Rashtra Samithi is 'corruption' adding that multiple scams took place under the tenure of Chief Minister KCR.
Addressing an election rally in Nalgona, Amit Shah said, "BRS means corruption. Mission Bhagiratha scam was done by BRS. The Miyapur land scam was done by BRS. BRS party took bribes in the Kaleshwaram project. The BRS party did the liquor scam as well."
Describing both the Congress and BRS as dynastic parties Shah said, "KCR wants to elect his son as CM and Sonia Gandhi wants Rahul Gandhi to become the PM. We have decided that when we form the government no son or daughter will become a CM but a leader of the Backward Class will become CM. This election is PM Modi's good governance against KCR's negligence"
Amit Shah further reiterated the BJP poll promise and said that if the party comes to power then the Chief Minister will be appointed from the OBC community.
"PM Narendra Modi has decided that if BJP forms government here, we will elect the Chief Minister from Backward Class," he said.
Earlier today, TTelugu actor-turned-politician Vijayashanti rejoined the Congress party after resigning from the Bharatiya Janata Party. Following her return, she was appointed as the Chief Coordinator of the Campaign and Planning Committee for the November 30 Telangana Assembly polls by Congress general secretary KC Venugopal.
Vijayshanti, was a big star in South Indian cinema when she started her political career with the BJP in 1997. She quit the party and joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) during its fight for a separate Telangana. She was elected to the Lok Sabha in 2009.
Telangana will go for Assembly elections on November 30 and counting of votes, along with those of four other poll-bound states, has been scheduled for December 3.
In the previous Assembly election in 2018, the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), previously known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), won 88 of the 119 seats, grabbing 47.4 per cent of the total vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats. (ANI)
