Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], August 29 (ANI): The first meeting of Telangana Congress Pradesh Election Committee took place at Gandhi Bhavan here today ahead of Telangana polls slated to be held later this year. 1006 applications from 119 constituencies were received by the party for tickets.
Mahesh Goud, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president said, "We have formulated few guidelines to follow over the selection of candidates at the initial level. So the next meeting will be taking place on September 2, by then we will provide the candidate details, their background, party affiliation, seniority in the party and their chance of inability."
So on September 2 we will take the decision to recommend 3 to 4 names from each constituency, Mahesh Goud said.
"We are committed to give at least two seats to backward classes in the parliament and SC, ST and BC seats on priority to be declared in the first list. As far as the frontal organisations are concerned, they have been working for the party for decades so overall guidelines were formed at today's meeting," Goud further said.
1006 applications from 119 constituencies were received. "So out of 1006 applications we will recommend 3 to 4 names on September 2," he said.
These application details will be provided to the screening committee, he added. (ANI)
