Telangana Assembly polls: "I will win...," says BJP candidate from Kamareddy

Kamareddy (Telangana) [India], November 30 (ANI): Coming up against the chiefs of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President (TPCC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader K Venkata Ramana Reddy on Thursday exuded confidence that he is going to win from Kamareddy Assembly Constituency.
BJP's Venkata Ramana Reddy, Congress' Revanth Reddy and BRS' K Chandrasekhar Rao are key candidates contesting from the Kamareddy constituency in the 2023 Telangana Assembly elections.
"I am only looking at them (CM KCR and Revanth Reddy) as TRS and Congress candidates only. They are big people but I am not going to back off from fearing them. A candidate is a candidate in my eyes... KCR was nothing 40 years ago, he became a CM over the journey of years... They became big leaders because their time was right. They should not be considered as geniuses. I am 101 per cent sure I will win," Venkata Ramana Reddy said.
The Kamareddy assembly constituency, located around 120 km away from Hyderabad, has become the hotspot of this election in Telangana, as it is witnessing a triangle battle among BRS supremo and chief minister KCR, his challenger Congress state unit chief, and the BJP's K Venkata Ramana Reddy.
Voting is underway at various polling booths across the state amid heavy security arrangements.
Telangana recorded a voter turnout of 51.89 per cent till 3 pm in the assembly polls that is currently underway for 119 seats, according to the Election Commission of India.
According to the Election Commission, Medak recorded a voter turnout of 69.33 per cent, Mahabubabad at 65.05 per cent, Adilabad at 62.34 per cent, Hanumankonda at 49 per cent and Hyderabad at 31.17 per cent till 3 pm.
The voter turnout in Khammam was recorded 63.62 per cent, Nalgonda recorded 59.98 per cent, Nizamabad at 56.70 per cent, Sangareddy recorded 56.23 per cent and Rangareddy recorded 42.43 per cent.
Jangaon recorded 62.24 percent of voter turnout, while Kamareddy recorded 59.06 per cent.
The incumbent Chief Minister and the founder of BRS, K Chandrashekar Rao, or KCR, is contesting from two seats: his original seat, Gajwel, and Kamareddy. In the 2018 elections, KCR secured a victory in Gajwel by over 58,000 votes. This time, he faces BJP leader Etela Rajender in Gajwel and Congress state unit chief Revanth Reddy in Kamareddy.
While the BJP has an ambitious goal of seeing its first government in Telangana, the Congress is hoping to come to power on the basis of the "momentum" of the past few months. But the party has a huge, almost 18 per cent gap to cover in terms of voting percentage of previous assembly elections.

In 2018, BRS (then Telangana Rashtra Samithi) won 88 of the 119 seats and had 47.4 per cent of the vote share. The Congress came a distant second with just 19 seats.
