Machilipatnam (Andhra Pradesh), [India], Mar 6 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Wednesday staged a dharna against the removal of voters' names from electoral rolls here at the district collector's office.
A group of TDP workers, headed by State Law Minister K Raveendra, alleged that the YSR Congress Party has filled online applications for the removal of voters who support the TDP.
Speaking to media here, Raveendra said: "YS Jagan is indulged in this conspiracy. He has joined hands with K Chandrasekhar Rao of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS). Jagan is afraid of his defeat in the coming elections and so trying to remove votes of TDP sympathisers by misusing technology."
After the dharna, the State Law Minister submitted a petition to the District Regional Officer and condemned non-filing of cases against YSRCP workers who filed an online application for the removal of votes.
TDP on Tuesday filed a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh Gopal Krishna Dwivedi about en masse applications for deletion of voters from electoral rolls.
TDP ministers have alleged that the Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSRCP has been hatching conspiracies to remove names of TDP sympathisers from the electoral rolls.
They alleged that the YSRCP is playing foul games with the support of the TRS government in Telangana.
CEO Dwivedi told ANI that no votes were deleted or removed from the final electoral rolls published in January 2019.
He said that there were en masse online applications for deletion or removal of names from electoral rolls, and the election commission found mala fide intentions behind such applications. (ANI)
