TDP for suspect sheet against 'habitual offender' Jagan Reddy
Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 7 (ANI): Telugu Desam Party on Monday approached police and sought opening of Suspect Sheet against Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) President Jagan Mohan Reddy, on grounds of being a 'habitual offender'. The party has upped ante against Jagan Reddy over his derogatory 'shooting' remark on Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. TDP Chairman and State General Secretary Varla Ramaiah on Monday, along with other leaders from the party approached the Andhra Pradesh DGP Nanduri Sambasiva Rao, and submitted a letter seeking opening of a Suspect Sheet against Jagan Reddy, on grounds of being a 'habitual offender'. Drawing upon his previous charges, including eleven charge sheets filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and five charge sheets by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), including accusations of being involved in money laundering worth crores of rupees, the letter highlighted Jagan to be a 'highly influential person', adding that there is 'every scope for him to continue committing such offences'. "The charge sheets filed by the CBI against Jagan show that he is habituated to commit such offences mentioned in the charge sheets. He is a highly influential person and there is every scope for him to continue committing such offences. In addition to this, he is with the habit of throwing derogative statements against his political opponents with dire consequences," the letter stated. "His recent and highly coarse comments made at the public meeting at Nandyal to kill Chandrababu Naidu, the Chief Minister by shooting him on the roads is a glimpse of his brazen behavior. Such impertinent statements by persons holding responsible position as an Opposition leader promulgates unwarranted terror among the public and other statesman," the letter urged. Stressing on the need to maintain a vigilant monitoring of his moves and whereabouts, the TDP through the letter highlighted the possibility of Jagan's followers being instigated to carry out what was said by him. "Under the circumstances and reasons mentioned supra, I request the kind Director General of Police to order the opening of History Sheet (Suspect) against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the habitual offender," the letter concluded. On Friday, during his campaign at Nandyal, Jagan spewed an absolute shocker when he said people like CM Naidu should be shot in public. Addressing a crowd in Nandyal town, ahead of the bye-elections, Jagan said, "A person like Chandrababu Naidu should be shot in public for his double speak and unending deeds of corruption." Condemning his 'vulgar' behaviour, TDP leader CM Ramesh said the leader is 'unfit for politics', and should be barred from elections. "We are meeting the Chief Election Commissioner of India on Tuesday. Not only do we want a case, we want him to be barred from elections itself. He is unfit for politics; he should quit and resume his business," Ramesh told ANI. "The whole party is filled with goons; there is not one suitable candidate. The public is giving representation and several FIRs have been filed. But I don't think he cares about all this. There is no limit, he can attack anyone. We will do everything to counter this and ensure action is taken, even if that means we have to approach the Home Ministry," he added. Nandyal is a constituency in the state's Rayalaseema area that has been witnessing a political void ever since the death of its sitting MLA Bhuma Nagi Reddy from a heart attack on March 12 this year. While TDP has named Bhuma Brahmananda Reddy as its candidate, the YSRCP has named Silpa Mohan Reddy as its nominee. Other parties, including the Congress, are also planning to field candidates. The Election Commission announced that the election will be held on August 23. The counting of votes will be held on August 28. (ANI)
