Tasmania's trade mission to visit India to strengthen bilateral ties

New Delhi [India], Sept. 1 (ANI): India and the Australian state of Tasmania are set to deepen government, business and sporting ties with a Tasmanian trade delegation visiting New Delhi, Mumbai and Trivandrum next week. The delegation headed by the Premier of Tasmania, Will Hodgman, along with minister for state growth Matthew Groom will include Tasmanian Ambassadors and world-renowned cricketers Ricky Ponting and David Boon along with senior government and business leaders from the Tasmanian education, energy, tourism, and food and beverage sectors. Meetings with Indian government and business officials will seek to deepen economic links while showcasing what the pristine and innovative island state of Tasmania has to offer visitors, students and investors. During the Trade Mission the Tasmanian delegation will meet with existing investors in Tasmania including Vedanta and Sunpharma, will host education agent events, and conduct youth cricket workshops. The delegation aims to finalise some important business and sporting exchange programs. As India's rise toward the world's third largest economy continues Tasmania is well placed to offer new opportunities for India with a world-class international education and tourism sector, a reputation for safe and premium food, and a sought after lifestyle and destination for education and investment. Tasmania also offers India a world-leading source of expertise in niche areas of premium agribusiness, aquaculture, renewable energy, and services available to harness as continues its growth. Tasmania, Australia's only island state, located at Australia's south coast, is delivering significant investment in education, resources, tourism and innovation, with this visit giving India direct access to this growing region. Tasmania and India already have strong business and social ties with Indian enterprises already sourcing more than AUD90 million in Tasmanian exports in 2015, as well as a rapidly growing Indian involvement in tourism and education in Tasmania.
