Tamil Nadu crisis: Dharma will win, says Panneerselvam
Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], Feb. 9 (ANI): Amid a bitter war between AIADMK general secretary V.K. Sasikala and acting chief minister O. Panneerselvam, the latter on Thursday asserted that dharma (right) will be victorious. "I briefed the Governor about the political developments in the state. I want to stress that dharma will win," Panneerselvam told the media. The interim Chief Minister met Governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao earlier in the day. Sasikala will meet the Governor at 7 p.m. today. The politics of the state witnessed a dramatic turn of events on Tuesday night with Panneerselvam staging a major revolt against Sasikala. Panneerselvam said he was forced to resign from the chief minister post by the Sasikala camp, an allegation that was later denied by the AIADMK general secretary. After his meeting, Panneerselvam thanked all the MPs and MLAs who supported him. Panneerselvam submitted his resignation earlier on Sunday which was accepted by the Governor, who in-turn asked him to continue till the necessary arrangements were made. Later, Panneerselvam told the media that he was forced to quit as Chief Minister and he is ready to withdraw his resignation if people, the party cadre and MLAs wanted him to. Sasikala, however, described Panneerselvam's rebellion as a "betrayal" and called him a "liar" Panneerselvam addressed a press conference and showcased support from several top leaders of the party, indicating that his faction is the real AIADMK and alleging that Sasikala has betrayed the party.
