Swamy turns heat on Rahul, says Nehru-Gandhi family acted like dictators
New Delhi [India], Jan. 26 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy on Thursday hit back at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for his veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused the Nehru-Gandhi family of running the country like dictators. Taunting Rahul, Swamy said that the former should put forth his concerns before his family. "He (Rahul Gandhi) should address the same to his own family. Jawaharlal Nehru behaved liked a Mughal emperor. Indira Gandhi behaved like a Russian dictator. It is a party which declared emergency and brought shame to our country. They should be ashamed of themselves," Swamy told ANI. Hinting at Prime Minister Modi, the Congress vice-president earlier in a tweet said India becoming a Republic on January 26, 1950, meant that it would not accept whims of any emperor or any sort of dictatorship. "On this day when we accepted the principles of freedom struggle and the great values of our heritage in the form of our Constitution, this meant that no emperor's whims and any form of dictatorship would any longer prevail. In this free world of ideas, no ideology will be imposed upon anyone in the country," he said. The Congress vice-president also took on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and said that no ideology would be imposed on anyone in the country. (ANI)
