Suspected NSCN-IM cadres target goods-laden convoy in Manipur
Imphal (Manipur) [India], Jan. 25 (ANI): Suspected NSCN-IM cadres on Tuesday ambushed a convoy of trucks and oil tankers along the national highway connecting Assam with Imphal. No casualties have been reported post the untoward incident. Reportedly, the oil tankers and other trucks convoy ferrying essential commodities were being escorted under security arrangements as the United Naga Council has been imposing indefinite economic blockade along the two National Highways. Condemning the incident, the oil tankers' drivers, under the banner of All Manipur Petroleum Tanker and Drivers Association, gathered at Malom Indian Oil Corporation Oil Depot at Malom village. Demanding the arrest of NSCN-IM cadres, they said that unless the government does not detain the NSCN-IM cadres, the drivers will remain off the road. Reportedly, heavy security has been deployed and a search operation has been launched in the area. (ANI)
