Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 8 (ANI): Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) leader Supriya Sule on Tuesday congratulated National Conference's Vice-President Omar Abdullah after his party secured an absolute majority in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, winning 48 seats.
Sule said that her party was "hopeful" of Congress' win in Haryana. She said that they would talk to Congress about what issues they faced in the Haryana assembly polls.
"... Farooq Abdullah is 86 years old but the conviction with which he fought is commendable... I would like to congratulate Omar Abdullah for this grand success. In Haryana, we were hopeful of Congress forming the government, but as we heard from them, counting was slowed down... We will talk to Congress and learn about the issues they have faced in Haryana so that we keep all that in mind during Maharashtra elections..." said Sule.
Communist Party of India General Secretary D Raja also said that INDIA bloc and specifically Congress should do "serious introspection" after the Haryana election results were announced, and also questioned why the bloc's parties could not trust each other during the seat sharing discussion before the election.
"The INDIA bloc political parties would have to do serious introspection, why there was no mutual trust between each other, why no mutual accommodation at the time of seat sharing arrangement. Congress primarily should do serious introspection, on why they failed to bring all other political parties which came together under INDIA bloc," D Raja told ANI.
National Conference-Congress alliance has secured an absolute majority in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, winning 48 seats.
Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) carried the alliance to victory by winning 42 seats in the results declared on Tuesday. Congress could win only six seats. Ninety seats went to the polls in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls. The BJP also put up a strong performance, winning 29 seats.
The BJP won 48 seats in the Haryana assembly, getting an absolute majority in the 90-member House, while, the Congress, which was leading in early trends, won only 37 seats, leaving a few seats behind the majority mark. Now, the BJP is poised to form its third successive government in the state. (ANI)
