Supporters of Navin Bisht, Aryendra Sharma vandalise Cong office in U'khand
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], Jan. 22 (ANI): Extremely upset with the distribution of tickets for the upcoming Uttarakhand Assembly elections, the supporter of Congress leaders Navin Bisht and Aryendra Sharma vandalised the party office here on Sunday. Holding placard and banners, the supporters raised slogans against Chief Minister Harish Rawat and the grand old party. "Not a single person is going to vote for the Congress. We will tell everybody not to vote for them. The party will be defeated in the upcoming assembly elections," said one of the supporters. It was speculated that Aryendra Sharma would be given the ticket from Sahaspur this time, but the party sidelined him and nominated Kishore Upadhyay. Earlier in the day, the Congress Party released its first list of 63 candidates for the polls. As per the list, Chief Minister Rawat would contest the elections from Hardwar rural and Kichha area. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has already released its candidates for the polls. Uttarakhand will vote for 70 assembly constituencies in a single-phase on February 15. The counting of votes will take place on March 11. (ANI)
