Thampanoor (Kerala) [India], April 7 (ANI): Asserting that the BJP government at the Centre is facing pro-incumbecy wave, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said that there is a surge in support for his party in every state and in every community.
Addressing a press conference here today, Fadnavis said, "I think this is one election where a ten-year incumbent government is facing pro-incumbency, not an anti-incumbency. It is because of the pro-activeness of the Prime Minister that we can see the amount of infrastructure that is created in our country whether it is highways or railway infrastructure like Vande Bharat Trains. We have doubled the number of airports from around 74 to 150. Now that this government is facing elections, I see a surge in support in every state, and in every community this time we are very hopeful that in Kerala also we will get a significant amount of votes and seats."
Earlier, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that there is no alternative in the opposition to take on the BJP who is capable enough of taking responsibility to secure the nation's 140 crore people.
"This election is being held at the national level, not just for some villages. In this election, voters decide who will take responsibility for the 140 crore people of the nation...We are confident that the nation can only move ahead under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi...We do not see any alternative to PM Modi in the opposition," Ajit Pawar said, speaking to reporters in Pimpri-Chinchwad on Sunday.
Dismissing reports of a potential rift within the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the state over seat-sharing, the Maharashtra Deputy CM said, "There is no rift within Mahayuti...It may be that, at times, some may have a different view. But that is human tendency. Otherwise, everything is smooth...Candidates and seats can be decided until the last date of nomination filing."
Further, speaking on the Kerala story telecast on Doordarshan, Fadnavis said that any film which has got a certificate from the censor board, becomes a public property.
"There is no bar on telecasting any such film, and Doordarshan has been telecasting all the films, there was a time when at the time of emergency, a film 'Aandhi' had come in Hindi, and it was banned, that time the court said, that is no ban because a film is given a censor board certificate, any platform it can be telecasted," he said.
Earlier, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also attacked the BJP over the decision to stream the film on the national broadcaster, stating that it should not become the "propaganda machine of the BJP-RSS." (ANI)
