Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], October 28 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party state president, CP Joshi said that the corruption of the Rajasthan government is out in the open and Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is scared.
The BJP leader was responding to Congress chief minister allegation that the BJP was targeting him through ED raids as they could not topple his government. Earlier, Congress' Sachin Pilot had also accused the BJP of misusing the central agencies to intimidate his party leaders in Rajasthan, which is gearing up for the assembly elections.
The Enforcement Directorate on Thursday conducted raids at the residence of Rajasthan Congress Chief Govind Singh Dotasra. A coaching centre allegedly linked to Dotasara was also searched. The ED has also summoned Chief Minister Gehlot's son, Vaibhav Gehlot, for questioning in a Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) case.
Speaking to mediapersons, BJP leader CP Joshi said "The links of corruption extend right to the top. The ACB Director General said clearly that the government does not let them reach the big fish. The people of Rajasthan are seeing for themselves how one corruption after another are being revealed. The Chief Minister should remain patient, he has nothing to fear if he is innocent."
The Congress party, which is in a direct contest with the BJP in the state, has raised concerns about the timing of the ED's actions.
Congress leader Sachin Pilot expressed suspicion about the "timing," "objective," and "intent" behind the raids conducted by central government agencies in Rajasthan, suggesting that the BJP might be feeling vulnerable ahead of the Rajasthan assembly elections.
"We have elections in Rajasthan in a few days. The Model Code of Conduct is in place here... The timing, objective and the intent of the raids conducted by the central government agencies in Jaipur and other cities today is questionable and suspicious," Pilot said in a press conference on Thursday.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Gehlot also criticized the BJP's actions and accused them of attempting to divert attention from the real issues facing the state.
Responding to this, BJP's CP Joshi said, "The story of corruption is out in the open layer after layer, this is the fear of the CM that is being voiced."
Polling for all 200 seats in the Rajasthan Assembly will be held on November 25 and the counting of votes will be held on December 3. (ANI)
