Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], September 13 (ANI): Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Central General Secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya on Friday said that the BJP is talking about 'communal demography' because of the elections, adding that a "state of confusion" is being created in Jharkhand regarding illegal immigration.
"The Central Government has filed an affidavit yesterday in the High Court case going on in our state regarding infiltration. We have also read that affidavit. Before the next hearing, BJP's statement came that demography has changed, Bangladeshi infiltration has happened. There is no mention anywhere in the Government of India and their authorities that Bangladeshi people are coming and living in Santhal Pargana area, in that affidavit, Census 2011 has been made a basis," Bhattacharya said
Centre has filed an affidavit, accepting the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Jharkhand.
"A state of confusion is being created in Jharkhand. Because elections are coming, BJP does not have any issues, that is why communal demography is being talked about. What kind of game is going on, why is the court being brought into this. And what is going on in the court is being discussed in the party office," Bhattacharya said.
In July, Jharkhand high court had ordered the state government to take action against the illegal Bangladeshi immigrants who infiltrated through the Santhal Pargana region. Since the BJP has targeted the JMM government, ahead of the Jharkhand election.
Jharkhand is set to witness an election to the 81-member legislative assembly later this year as the current government's tenure ends in 2024. The Election Commission of India (ECI) is yet to announce the dates. (ANI)
