State law and order machinery has to swing into action: BJP on Dalit atrocities
New Delhi, Aug. 9 (ANI): Condemning atrocities on Dalits, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday said any kind of extra constitutional authority taking law and order into its hand is unacceptable, adding that the state law and order machinery has to swing into action. Speaking to ANI, BJP leader Nalin Kohli said immediate action has been taken in the NDA-ruled states in this regard. "An attack on any citizen.any kind of extra constitutional authority taking law and order into their hands is unacceptable. Every right thinking person is bound to do that.criticise it. With regard to all the attacks that have taken place in different states, the states' law and order machinery has to swing into action," he added. Kohli's comment came in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his concerns over the recent attacks on people of the Dalit community. Breaking the silence on the issue while addressing the TownHall meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, the Prime Minister took strong exception to atrocities on Dalits in Gujarat's Una in the name of cow protection. His remarks come at a time when questions are being raised on his silence amid the spate of recent attacks on Dalits in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
