Guwahati (Assam) [India], July 29 (ANI): Assam Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday launched a blistering attack against Jorhat MP Gaurav Gogoi for his speech on Operation Sindoor in Parliament, alleging that the Congress leader is "acting on behalf of Pakistan," and is a "disgrace" to the state.
Sarma also reiterated the claim of Congress' Gogoi having alleged links to Pakistan, saying that the latter could leave India "any time" with his wife having foreign citizenship.
Without mentioning Gogoi's name, Sarma posted on X, "speech delivered by our MP from Jorhat in Parliament yesterday proved beyond doubt that he acts on behalf of Pakistan. His secret trip and close ties with the Pakistani establishment speak volumes."

Calling Gogoi a "disgrace" to Assam and betraying the pride of state, Sarma added, "With his wife and both the kids holding foreign citizenship, he can leave India any time. He is a disgrace to Assam and a betrayal of our pride as proud Indian."
Yestertday Lok Sabha's Deputy leader of Opposition, and Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi targeted the Centre over US President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he brokered the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan following Operation Sindoor.
Participating in the debate on 'India's strong, successful and decisive Operation Sindoor in response to terrorist attack in Pahalgam' in Lok Sabha, Gogoi slammed the government for stopping Operation Sindoor after Pakistan capitulated and asked why did it not go further and reclaim the territory illegally occupied by the neighbouring country.
"The entire country, and the Opposition, were supporting PM Modi. Suddenly, on 10th May, we got to know that there had been a ceasefire. Why? We wanted to know from PM Modi that if Pakistan was ready to kneel down, then why did you stop, and to whom did you surrender? The US President has said this 26 times that he forced India and Pakistan to announce a ceasefire," Gogoi said.
The government has stated that there was no mediation and the cessation of hostilities with Pakistan during Operation Sindoor took place after Pakistan's DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart.
The Congress leader also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi stating that he did not go to Pahalgam after returning from Saudi Arabia, but went to Bihar and gave an "election speech".
Assam Chief Minister has previously criticised Gogoi, alleging the Jorhat MP is a "deep-rooted Pakistani agent." CM Sarma had claimed that Gogoi had only revealed 10 per cent about his visit to Pakistan and that he and his wife are deeply involved in anti-India activities.
The Chief Minister added, "This man (Gaurav Gogoi) is openly a deep-rooted Pakistani agent. No Assamese will ever forget the supreme sacrifice of Jintu Gogoi (an Indian Army officer who lost his life in the line of duty during the Kargil War) or the Pahalgam incident. No Assamese will be fine with justifying the visit to Pakistan."
The Rajya Sabha is set to continue the discussion on Operation Sindoor today, while Union home Minister Amit Shah will also address he Lok Sabha regarding the Operation and the Pahalgam terror attack which killed 26 tourists in Jammu and Kashmir. (ANI)
