"Speaking like goons tradition of RJD": Chirag Paswan on alleged abuses hurled at PM Modi in 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra'

"They have spoken like local goons, and this is a tradition of the RJD, which has defamed our Bihar since the 1990s, and till now we are fighting for our lost legacy and respect. Are these your party workers, or are they your goons who are verbally abusing the Prime Minister's mother?" Paswan told reporters here.

New Delhi [India], August 28 (ANI): Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Thursday targeted the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) over the alleged abuses hurled at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, saying that speaking like "goons" was a tradition of the opposition party in Bihar.
"If they can use such a language from the stage set up in a city, one can only imagine the words they use at home or when they visit villages. What do they have to do with anyone's family who is not even in public life? They did the same to me during the Lok Sabha elections," he added.
Paswan asserted that it was unacceptable to hurl insults at the Prime Minister, even if one had issues with him and his government's policies.
"Nobody can accept using abusive words against the Prime Minister of the country. If you have some issues with the work of the Prime Minister and government policies, you can do that. But you cannot use abusive language against the Prime Minister's family, who are far from public life," the Union Minister said.
He spoke against lowering the dignity of languages in the name of expressing a difference of opinion.
"In politics, there are bound to be differences. In a diverse democracy like India, everyone has their opinion and vote, and because of differences, one cannot lower the dignity of languages. Indian languages have such a good collection of words, and one can make the sharpest of attacks by using dignified words," Paswan said.
"Both Congress and RJD are such old parties, they should at least have common sense that SIR is not an issue of the government," he added.
Earlier in the day, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra lambasted Rahul Gandhi and the other leaders of the INDIA bloc over the kind of language being used in Bihar's 'Voter Adhikaar Yatra', accusing them of engaging in the "politics of abuse".
"There's no difference between Rahul Gandhi, Mani Shankar Aiyar and Sanjay Raut. There's a competition among the INDIA bloc leaders. Rahul Gandhi is the new Mani Shankar Aiyar of Congress. This politics of abuse is not limited to the Prime Minister," Patra said while addressing a press conference here.
Patra criticised the abuses hurled at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Voter Adhikaar Yatra and slammed Rahul Gandhi for addressing the latter as "tu", which he implied was disrespectful to the Prime Minister of 140 crore Indians. (ANI)
