"SP sheltering mafia": UP Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar on Yogi Adityanath's statement on codeine cough syrup trafficking case

Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) [India], December 20 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar, reacting to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's statement that every mafia has links with the Samajwadi Party, and slammed the party on Saturday.
Expressing his agreement with the Chief Minister, Rajbhar said the Samajwadi Party is often referred to as a "government of goons" and alleged that it shelters mafias.
"People call the Samajwadi Party a government of goons... The Samajwadi Party is the one that shelters all the mafia... The Chief Minister is right in saying that many people from the Samajwadi Party are involved in this...," Rajbhar told ANI.
Earlier, UP CM Yogi Adityanath made a sharp dig at the Samajwadi Party, saying the party is connected to every Mafia.
"Everyone knows that almost every mafia in the state has ties to the Samajwadi Party. The preliminary investigation has revealed the fact that some of the accused caught in the action of the STF or the Uttar Pradesh Police are related to the Samajwadi Party.", he said.
"The Samajwadi Party, which is already infamous and infamous for its functioning, will also see its complicity exposed in this whole affair. ", he added.
In a press conference, UP chief minister said that strict action has been taken in the illegal cough syrup smuggling case. NDPS, STF and FSDA, along with the UP government and police, are on the case.
He stated that under the leadership of the Uttar Pradesh Police and Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA), action has been initiated under the NDPS Act.
"The case was pursued under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS)... The UP Government, the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA), the UP Police, and the Special Task Force (STF) have initiated action."
He also said the entire case is being monitored by a state-level SIT comprising UP Police and FSDA officials. Important aspects related to illegal trafficking, such as where the money went, will also be revealed.

On December 10, Varanasi Police had conducted a major crackdown on the illegal trade of banned codeine-based cough syrup, seizing around 30,000 bottles from a godown in the city, with an estimated value of approximately Rs 60 lakh.
Speaking to ANI on Tuesday, Saravanan Thangamani, DCP Crime, Varanasi, said, "The Varanasi Commissioner is continuously taking action against codeine-containing cough syrup. There is a godown here where this cough syrup is kept in huge quantities. Around 30,000 bottles of codeine-containing cough syrup have been seized, whose estimated value is around Rs 60,00,000. The land of this illegal godown is in the name of Manoj Kumar Yadav, a close associate of Shubham Jaiswal. 2 suspects have been arrested at the spot." (ANI)
