SP leader distances himself from 'cop-slapping' nephew
Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh), May 12 (ANI): UP legislative council chairman and Samajwadi Party leader Ramesh Yadav has distanced himself from his nephew Mohit Yadav, who landed in soup after slapping a sub-inspector in a police station in Etah. The assault was caught on camera after Mohit was held for allegedly assaulting hospital staffers who refused to give in to his demand for VIP treatment. The SP leader strongly condemned the incident and asked for stern action against his nephew. Averring that nothing is above law, Ramesh Yadav issued a letter and asserted that Mohit is his nephew but does not reside with him and that he has nothing to do with the hapless incident that raised eyebrows over his credibility as a law maker. "Mohit Yadav who is the son of my brother Narendra Singh Yadav does not live with us nor do we have any relation with what they do. The way he conducted himself is condemnable. His behaviour with the police official and the hospital staff was unpardonable and that he should be punished for his misconduct," said Ramesh Yadav "Mohit should be prosecuted. Nothing is above law, be it my son or any of my relative. I have nothing to do with the mentioned incident. I never have and never will support such actions," he added. The nephew of Samajwadi party leader Ramesh Babu Yadav was caught on camera bragging about his association with the former ruling party before launching an unprovoked attack on a policeman standing near him. Etah is the stronghold of Samajwadi Party patron Mulayam Singh Yadav. Mohit Yadav got in to an argument with doctors regarding an X-ray and subsequently beat up a radiologist and two technicians. When police arrived at the location, Yadav started arguing with them and slapped senior sub-inspector Jitendra Singh and other policemen. The man kept shouting "My name is Mohit Yadav" while slapping the policeman. Yadav has been arrested and charged with assault on a policeman on duty. (ANI)
