New Delhi [India], May 2 (ANI): BJP on Thursday came down heavily on Congress, SP and BSP, alleging that they were indulging in politics of corruption, caste, religion and ignoring national security.
"People want a government that is strong and believes in development. But some political parties want a weak government. This 'mahamilawati' (SP and BSP) alliance and Congress want to weaken the country by hatching conspiracies. They are doing politics on corruption, caste and religion and ignoring national security. The SP-BSP alliance and Congress are two sides of the same coin," BJP national spokesperson GVL Narasimha Rao told reporters here.
He said that during the 10-year rule of the UPA government, Congress had supported SP and BSP and they were now staging a "drama" of fighting against each other.
"During the 10 year-tenure of the UPA government, Congress backed SP and BSP. Now, they are staging a drama of fighting against each other. The people of Uttar Pradesh have seen their electoral antics and will give a befitting reply by giving a verdict of a massive majority to BJP in the state," Rao claimed.
On Congress' statement which said that six surgical strikes were conducted when the party was in power, Rao dubbed it as a "fraudulent and farcical claim" made by the grand old party and alleged it "only indulged" in corruption.
"Congress has made a fraudulent and farcical claim. Our forces were capable of doing surgical strikes. But they were not allowed to do so by the Congress government after the 26/11 attacks happened. Congress only indulged in corruption and nothing else," he said.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Rajeev Shukla had claimed that six surgical strikes were carried out between 2008 and 2014.
"Six surgical strikes were conducted during Manmohan Singh's tenure. One was conducted on June 19, 2008, in Bhattal sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch, one from August 30 to September 1, 2011, in Sharda sector across Neelam River Valley in Kel," Shukla had said.
"One surgical strike was carried out on January 6, 2013, at Sawan Patra checkpost, one on July 27 and July 28, 2013, at Nazapir sector, one on August 6, 2013, at Neelam Valley and one on January 14, 2014," he had said. (ANI)
