New Delhi [India], October 12 (ANI): Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi attended the Dussehra celebrations at Nav Shri Dharmik Leela Committee Red Fort in the national capital.
"Heartiest greetings to all the countrymen on the great festival of Vijayadashami, the victory of justice over injustice and truth over untruth. I hope this festival fills your life with joy," Rahul Gandhi extended greetings via a post on X.
Meanwhile, other Congress leaders also extended greetings on the occasion of Dussehra.
"I wish happiness, peace, prosperity, and harmony to all of you," wrote Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in a post on X.
"Warm greetings on the joyous occasion of Dusshera, celebrated across various parts of the country. Dusshera is a symbol of India's unity in diversity and the spirit of shared togetherness. The festival reminds us of the timeless message of the triumph of good over evil, inspiring hope for a brighter future. May the spirit of amity, fraternity, harmony, and goodness prevail all around," Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge posted on X.
Vijayadashami, or Dussehra, is a prominent Hindu festival celebrated every year at the end of Navaratri.
It is observed on the tenth day of the month of Ashvin, the seventh in the Hindu Luni-Solar Calendar. The festival typically falls in the Gregorian calendar months of September and October.
The festival of Vijayadashami is celebrated almost in every part of the country, and there are several tales associated with it, the most popular being the defeat of the Ravana by Lord Rama, one of the most revered god figures in India.
The festival also starts the preparations for Diwali, the important festival of lights, which is celebrated twenty days after Vijayadashami. (ANI)
